Before reviewing our data authorization below, we strongly recommend that prospective MedRIC requestors carefully review our data access conditions.

Understanding MedRIC’s Data Access Conditions

To acquire our research files, you MUST:

  1. Obtain an NIH-affiliated survey’s authorization to receive survey data by establishing a survey data agreement; and
  2. Obtain CMS's authorization to receive Medicare and/or Medicaid data by establishing a CMS data use agreement (DUA).

Please note that we only deliver files to researchers who provide us with copies of their CMS DUA and NIH-affiliated survey data agreement.

In addition, we do not provide our files to researchers who are interested in CMS data for non-NIH survey participants. If you need CMS data for a study that is not focused on NIH survey participants, please contact CMS’s Research Data Assistance Center (ResDAC).

Now that you've read our data access conditions, scroll down to access process diagrams for requesting MedRIC research files.
